Visit Brisbane is fun. Friendly people. Beautiful environment. Also, it is less expensive than Sydney and Melbourne for price-sensitive backpackers.
I have been Brisbane twice, and spent in total 1.5 years here… There is no better place to visit than Brisbane. Whenever I met some new friends, I encourage them to go to Brisbane. The travel bible, Lonely Planet, describes Brisbane as Australia’s coolest, hippest city and a star on the rise. Don’t miss out on such an amazing place! In my opinion, Brisbane worth a visit at least once in a lifetime. And I tell you why!
HERE ARE MY 6 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD GO TO BRISBANE NOW
01 | YOU WILL MEET AMAZING PEOPLE
When I look in my Facebook, I think by now I have more friends from Brisbane than from my own country. The locals are naturally warm and friendly people. The hospitality here is incomparable to the rest of the world. Plus, you will meet a lot of international friends from around the world. Wherever you go, you will receive a friendly smile and a warm welcome, so don’t be shy! In short, I love them!
02 | PARADISE BEACHES & ISLANDS
It is like in heaven. No kidding. I hardly found better beaches in the world than here. Surfers Paradise is about an hour drive from the city. I wouldn’t say it’s the best one, but certainly the most famous one. Moreton Island, the third-largest sand island in the world, located only 35km from the East Coast. Nothing is more magical than snorkelling near the shipwrecks. If you are feeling lazy, you can also enjoy the sunshine at South Bank Street beach. A beach in the middle of the city, how good is that! Don’t forget to put sunscreen on.
03 | WEATHER & CLIMATE
The average yearly temperature is around 26.6°C. There are not extremely hot or cold that can be found in most other countries. Any time of the year is a pleasant time to explore Brisbane’s wonders. When Europe is negative degree Celsius, meanwhile, Brisbane is a summertime!
04 | FOOD, DELICIOUS FOOD
One of the greatest things to do in Brisbane is to dine out with friends. For those who love Asian food like me, Sunnybank is a food paradise with delicious dim sum, smoked pork and bubble tea. Must try in Brisbane: Little Lamb Happy Ranch, Madtongsan, Pancake manor… and more!
05 | CULTURE & FESTIVALS
Let’s say you are just passing by Brisbane as one day stop on your way to Gold Coast. I would recommend visiting South Bank, where is home to the city’s Cultural Precinct, with the Queensland Museum, Queensland Art Galleries, Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland Performing Arts Centre and Science Centre… you can do it in just 24 hours. Throughout the year, there are lots of events happening, such as Brisbane Festival, Spring Flare Festivals, Oktoberfest, New Year's Eve…Why? Because you will never get bored!
06 | ACTIVE LIFESTYLE
There’s not so much of a sightseeing destination, but you can experience the city like a local. There’s nothing in the world quite like the experience of kayaking on the Brisbane River at Riverlife. Don’t like water sports? You can try Segway tour, cycling and rollerblading too. Rock climbing at Kangaroo Point sounds crazy, huh? Sure, you need to be of reasonable fitness, but there’s no excuse not to partake in this awesome experience. Don’t forget to be impressed by the friendly instructors!
…AND NOW, GIVE IT A SHOT
I reckon there are heaps more, got any ideas? Please tell me about your experiences! I would love to hear what you think about this beautiful city! If you agree with this article, please share! Thank you for reading!!
