My Review of Hack Reactor Remote Beta

I took the Hack Reactor remote beta at the second cohort in Hong Kong to improve my technical skills in JavaScript. It was well structured, with a lot of excellent lectures and hands-on experience in cutting-edge technologies.

I started by learning recursion, closure and data structures. After I have a good grasp on the basics, I started to learn different JavaScript frameworks step by step including BackboneJS, AngularJS and NodeJS from instructors who truly know the subject. To complete the course, I have to work on a couple of projects and they have a relative comprehensive coverage of new tools such as ThreeJS and ReactJS. On my thesis project, I built a machine learning server for a beer recommendation. It was challenging and fun to do.

Working with other remote students was very enjoyable. We collaborated closely using floobits for pair programming and Google Hangouts for daily standup-meetings. The staffs show exceptional participation in HipChat and are always glad to help. I would say the instructors know very well how to teach and explain hard topics very concisely and clearly. You won’t need to be a computer science major to understand the topics. Thanks a lot for delivering this remote course with high-quality!

Anyone interested in coding will find the course fascinating. The learning experience deserves 5 stars. Totally recommended.
